Sean McWilliams - Biography
influences: James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius, Paul McCartney, Ray Brown
Born on May 5,1969 in Tucson, Arizona, Sean started playing saxophone at the age of 11. Playing through middle school, High school, and three years of college in Wichita Falls, Texas, he came to the realization that he wasn't very good.
Going back to his childhood, Sean remembered that when his parents asked him what instrument he wanted to play, his answer was "bass". The very next day he came home to find a used 52 model Yamaha sax. "O.K. what the hell I'll play it."
Nine years later, Sean didn't want to play sax any more. So, on his 21st birthday, he treated himself to a Japanese Fender P bass. He loved it and in six months was gigging with a band called "The Kind".
Seeking further advancement on his instrument, Sean studied bass under the direction of Lou Carfa at Texas Wesleyan University in Ft.Worth. Where he met Craig Marshall and the love of his life, Vicki Olson.
Sean dropped out of college and started freelancing. Playing mostly in wedding bands and Broadway musicals, Sean made a living. He also is composer/arranger and has co-written six musicals for children. Plus he wrote dozens of songs for conventions."You know, selling hair cleaner and shit like that."
After closing Forever Plaid's three year run at Casa on the square, Sean had his weekends open again."I ran into Craig when Vicki and I moved to the apartment complex that he was living in." After hearing Craig's music, Sean instantly wanted to be a part of it.
